Information Technology Centre

ARCI is one of the most computerized laboratories within the DST family. The Centre has set-up a Local Area Network (LAN) for communication and computerization of operations at ARCI. The main objective of computerization at ARCI is to automate the process of collection and compilation of data, to increase the overall efficiency leading to proper and quick flow of information and, foremost, to expedite a wide variety of routing operations handled at ARCI in a nearly-paperless manner. The Computer Centre also manages corporate email, internet centre besides looking after procurement and maintenance of computer peripherals.

The connectivity between each network switch installed in various buildings is through a 1Gbps DLink optic fibre switch located at Computer Centre using optic fibre cable. A 1Gbps DLink SWITCH is installed in every department and UTP cat5e/Cat6 cabling inside buildings to establish connections between the switches. ARCI also have Wi-Fi internet facility using DLink wireless access points and user-based authentication by the Cyberoam UTM for providing internet to all the users. A total of 243 network I/O nodes and 32 switches have been installed. ARCI is now a part of a strong and robust internal indian network i.e., the National Knowledge Network (NKN). The ARCI LAN, Internet and NKN facility are being managed by Computer Centre using the Cyberoam Unified Threat Management (UTM) device.
