In the present era of globalization, international cooperation in research and technology development is inevitable. ARCI has been taking the route of international cooperation with regard to technology development right from its inception given the fact that it was originally conceived as an Indo-Soviet Centre for Powder Metallurgy. International Coordination Group (ICG) at ARCI, through international cooperation in research and technology development, has been coordinating increased level of scientific understanding in specific technological areas of interest to ARCI to bring state-of-the-art materials-based technologies to the doorstep of Indian Industry.
ICG aims at timely implementation of scientific and technical programmes, involving constant exchange of experts and information, pursued by ARCI in collaboration with institutions and R & D institutes from partner countries. Initially restricted to institutions in CIS countries, international co-operation of ARCI now encompasses institutions and R & D institutes throughout the globe. The last decade has seen ICG looking past its traditional boundaries of CIS countries and widening its horizon by including developed nations in Europe and American Continents.
Unlike many other laboratories in India, ARCI has acquired few of technologies from aboard at embryonic stage and proceeded to develop and upgrade them before transferring them to Indian industry. ARCI has also formulated and accomplished major research programmes with partner institutes abroad. Thus, ARCI has a unique experience in all aspects of international cooperation.
