An Indo-French seminar on Automotive Manufacturing Technologies was jointly organized by ARCI, Hyderabad with Oseo Paris, France under the aegis of Indo-French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR), New Delhi on 5-6 September, 2008 in Chennai. About 15 invited speakers from India and France delivered talks on various automotive technology related topics including forming/forging process, composite materials, auto electronics, metallic-rubber components, electric and hybrid vehicles, powder metallurgy, surface engineering and laser processing. About 30 senior level technical persons from various auto and auto component industries, design groups and academic institutions participated in the deliberations. Some of the French speakers also presented about French Technology Clusters in supporting the automotive industry. There were substantial interactions among the participants leading to identification of about 10 topics of mutual interest, for further discussion and development into a possible R&D collaboration.
