Laser Cladding of Stellite-6 on Valve Seats

  • Developed the process to obtain 1.2-mm stellite clad at the periphery of valve seat by utilizing CO2 laser integrated to 4-axis CNC workstation
  • A 20% improvement in wear resistance and a 8-fold improvement in corrosion resistance observed.
  • The coating showed improvement in properties like hardness, wear and corrosion resistance as compared to PTA counterpart
