Ni-Cr alloy on SS-316L

  • Laser cladding of 12%Cr-Ni alloy powder on SS316L steel utilizing diode laser system
  • Tailoring of beam intensity profile and pre-heating setups were used
  • Appropriate control of dilution in clad could realize in obtaining crack-free coating
  • The process has been optimized for producing up to 3 mm thick coating
  • An average hardness of 500 - 550 HV achieved
  • Refined uniform distribution of borides and carbides in γ-Ni matrix
