Biography

Biography

I, Dr V. Venkata Sravani, am currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), Hyderabad, India. I have completed my Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, where my research focused on the design and development of novel functionalized metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for applications in metal ion recovery, sensing, luminescence, and hydrogen storage. I completed my M.Sc. in Chemistry from Andhra University, securing a top rank, and earned my B.Sc. in Chemical Sciences from Acharya Nagarjuna University, where I was awarded the district first rank among all government degree colleges in Guntur Dt., Andhra Pradesh. I am consistently demonstrated academic excellence and research innovation throughout her career.

Research Profile

My research work mainly centres on the synthesis, functionalisation, and scalable development of advanced porous materials, particularly MOFs and aerogel-based composites. My work spans a wide range of applications including water purification, adsorption of radioactive and heavy metal ions (such as U(VI) and Th(IV)), gas storage (hydrogen and CO₂), luminescent sensing, and thermal insulation. During my doctoral research at Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), I have developed highly stable MOFs capable of withstanding extreme acidic conditions and demonstrated their effectiveness in actinide and fission product remediation, as well as sensing applications. I also explored the photoluminescence properties and hydrogen storage capabilities of these materials. In my current postdoctoral role at ARCI, I am particularly focused on developing MOF-based aerogel composites with scalable, low-cost synthesis strategies for real-world applications. My work led to a filed patent and four publications. I have authored over 11 peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals, hold a patent (filed), and have presented my work at multiple national and international conferences. Finally, my technical expertise includes advanced material synthesis, spectroscopic and microscopic characterization techniques, and interdisciplinary collaboration in materials science and radiochemistry.
