Biography
Scientist with 27+ years of experience in the field of laser-based manufacturing with applications development in laser-based machining, joining, surface engineering and additive manufacturing processes. His areas of expertise include Laser Processing Technology Development, Process Modelling, Materials Characterization, Tribology, Mechanical Behaviour of Materials and Failure Analysis. He successfully developed several laser-based processing technologies utilizing industrial high-power lasers integrated to CNC and Robotic Workstations for Energy, Defence, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Nuclear and Engineering sectors. He successfully completed several Government and MNC funded projects involving DST, DHI, DAE, DRDO, NTPC, TVS, GE, Cummins, Hoganas AB, Fraunhofer Institutions and worked for international collaborative programs with USA, Israel, Germany and Sweden. As on date, he published 100+ technical papers/patents/articles/book-chapters in peer-reviewed international journals, Conference proceedings, Articles and Books and also delivered several Invited/Guest lectures in seminars/conferences/workshops. He is serving as Editorial Board / Reviewer Member for 10+ International Journals in the field of materials and materials processing technology. Apart from guidance/supervision of 5+ doctoral / post-doc works in the field of Mechanical/Materials engineering, guided 40+ graduate/post-graduate thesis projects in the field of mechanical/metallurgical/materials engineering/science. He provided consultancy to setup laser processing systems to organizations such as NML, BHEL, VSSC, SSCT, IPM and other Private Job shops etc. Also organized several workshops and conferences with emphasis on lasers and their applications to research, education and industry fraternity.
